Abeka Preschool Curriculum Overview (Ages 2–5)
At New Vineyard Academy, our preschool program uses the Abeka Christian curriculum, which provides a strong academic foundation while nurturing spiritual growth, character development, and a love for learning. Each age level is carefully designed to meet children where they are developmentally and help them grow in confidence, independence, and readiness for school.
Two-Year-Olds
Our two-year-old program focuses on early learning through play, exploration, and structure in a loving, Christian environment.
Children are introduced to:
- Bible stories and simple prayers
- Colors, shapes, and basic numbers
- Songs, finger plays, and rhymes
- Fine and gross motor skill development
- Social skills such as sharing, listening, and following simple directions
This stage builds comfort in a classroom setting and encourages curiosity and independence.
Three-Year-Olds
The three-year-old curriculum expands early academic skills while continuing to emphasize structure and creativity.
Children learn:
- Letter recognition and phonics readiness
- Counting and number concepts
- Bible verses and character lessons
- Basic writing skills through tracing
- Science, nature, and health concepts
- Listening, speaking, and following directions
This level builds confidence and prepares students for more formal instruction.
Four-Year-Olds (Pre-K4)
The four-year-old program introduces structured academic learning and school readiness skills.
Children develop:
- Letter sounds and early reading skills
- Writing letters and numbers
- Math concepts such as patterns, counting, and simple addition
- Bible lessons, scripture memory, and Christian character
- Science, social studies, and creative arts
- Classroom responsibility and independence
This year strengthens both academic and spiritual foundations.
Five-Year-Olds (Kindergarten Readiness / K5)
The five-year-old program prepares students for elementary school success with a strong emphasis on reading and math.
Children master:
- Phonics-based reading and word building
- Writing sentences and proper handwriting
- Addition and subtraction
- Bible doctrine, scripture memorization, and Christian values
- Science, health, and social studies
- Listening skills, problem-solving, and classroom responsibility
This level equips students with the confidence and skills needed for a smooth transition into kindergarten.
